Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Bhavin Shiroya — Frontera Infotech ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Yarn Costing Calculator mobile application (the "App"), available on Android and iOS.
By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Who We Are
Developer / Data Controller: Bhavin Shiroya — Frontera Infotech
Contact email: er.bhavinshiroya@gmail.com
Website: yarn-costing.fronterainfotech.com
2. Summary
- We do not require an account, login, or registration.
- Your costing data (yarn parameters, costs, saved calculations) is stored only on your device — we do not upload it to our servers.
- The App is free and ad-supported on Android and iOS. We use Google AdMob to show ads; Google may collect device and advertising-related data as described below.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We collect limited usage analytics in our production builds to improve the App.
- When you share a report, you choose the destination via your device's share menu — we do not receive that content.
3. Information Stored on Your Device (Local Data)
The App stores the following data locally on your phone or tablet using on-device storage (AsyncStorage). This data is not transmitted to our servers:
- Costing names and identifiers you create
- Warp line details (ends, denier, length, rate, calculated weight and cost)
- Weft line details (denier, width, pick, rate, calculated weight and cost)
- Process cost inputs (wastage %, shortage %, bleaching cost, worker/weaving cost, card details)
- Timestamps (created and updated dates) for saved costings
This information is business and calculation data that you enter. Costing names may contain free-text labels you choose. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or location from you directly.
Retention: Local data remains on your device until you delete individual costings within the App, clear the App's storage, or uninstall the App.
4. Analytics and Diagnostics
In our production builds, we use PostHog
(PostHog Privacy Policy)
to understand how the App is used and to diagnose errors. PostHog acts as a data processor
on our behalf. Analytics data is processed on PostHog servers in the European Union
(eu.i.posthog.com).
Analytics may include:
- App version, platform (Android/iOS), and device type
- Screen views and navigation within the App
- Button taps and general interaction events (with UI labels, not your costing content)
- Aggregated calculation totals (e.g. net cost, total weight, number of filled lines) — not individual line-by-line business details or costing names
- Crash and error reports
- Session replay (recordings of App usage) with text inputs and images masked so your entered data is not visible in replays
Retention: Analytics data retention is governed by our PostHog project settings. To request deletion of analytics data associated with your use of the App, see our Data Deletion page.
5. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The App is free to use and supported by advertising on both Android and iOS. We use Google AdMob (Google LLC) to display ads. Google acts as an independent data controller for much of the information collected for advertising purposes.
Ad formats in the App:
- Banner ads — shown at the bottom of the Home and Saved Costings screens
- Interstitial ads — full-screen ads shown occasionally when you leave the Summary screen (frequency-capped)
Google and its advertising partners may collect and use information to serve and measure ads, which may include:
- Advertising ID (Google Advertising ID on Android, IDFA on iOS, where permitted)
- Device type, operating system, and app version
- IP address (which may be used to infer approximate location)
- Ad interactions (impressions, clicks)
- Diagnostic data related to ad delivery
We do not receive your costing data (yarn lines, costs, saved calculation names) through ads. Ad requests do not include the business information you enter in the calculator.
Consent and personalised ads:
- EEA, UK, and other regions where required: The App uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain consent before personalised advertising where legally required. You may accept or decline personalised ads via the consent form.
- iOS: The App may show Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt before tracking across apps and websites for advertising. You can allow or deny tracking in the system dialog or later in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- If you decline consent or tracking, you may still see non-personalised ads.
For more information about how Google uses data in advertising, see:
- Google Privacy Policy
- How Google uses information from sites and apps that use their services
- Google Ad Settings — manage ad personalisation
Retention: Ad-related data is retained according to Google's policies and your device settings. See our Data Deletion page for how to limit or reset advertising data.
6. App Updates (Expo)
The App may check for over-the-air (OTA) updates from Expo (Expo Privacy Policy) to deliver bug fixes and improvements. This involves standard update checks to Expo's servers and does not include your costing data.
7. Sharing and Export (User-Initiated)
When you tap Share or Export PDF, the App generates a report on your device and opens your operating system's share sheet. You choose where to send it (e.g. WhatsApp, email, files). We do not receive, store, or access shared reports. Any third-party app you share to is governed by that app's own privacy policy.
8. What We Do Not Collect Directly
We do not ask you for or directly collect the following through the App itself (Google AdMob may collect advertising-related data as described in Section 5):
- Real names, email addresses, or phone numbers (unless you contact us voluntarily)
- Precise GPS location from the App
- Contacts, photos, camera, or microphone data
- Banking or payment card information
- Government ID numbers
9. Children's Privacy
The App is a professional business tool for textile costing. It is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at er.bhavinshiroya@gmail.com and we will take appropriate steps.
10. Data Security
Local data is stored in the App's private on-device storage area. Analytics and ad-related data in transit uses encrypted connections (HTTPS) where supported by the respective services. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure; we take reasonable measures to protect information under our control.
11. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Access or delete analytics data we hold (via our Data Deletion process)
- Delete all local costing data by uninstalling the App or clearing app data in device settings
- Change ad consent choices (UMP form may be shown again on first launch after clearing app data; iOS users can change Tracking in system settings)
- Reset your advertising ID — Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Reset advertising ID; iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, or limit ad tracking in Privacy → Apple Advertising
- Manage Google ad personalisation at myadcenter.google.com
- Object to or restrict certain processing (contact us)
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
The App does not currently offer an in-app analytics opt-out toggle. For ad-related choices, use the consent prompts, device settings, or Google Ad Settings above. You may also contact us at er.bhavinshiroya@gmail.com.
12. International Data Transfers
Analytics data is processed by PostHog on servers in the European Union. Advertising data may be processed by Google and its partners globally, including in the United States. We are based in India. Where data is transferred outside your country, we and our service providers rely on appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law (including consent mechanisms and standard contractual clauses where applicable).
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
